Tawang is the main station of Central Java Province. The station was built in 1868 and is one of the oldest in Indonesia. However, the building is well-preserved despite its old age. It retains the original architecture and seems carefully looked after. You will find Tawang Railway Station at Taman Tawang Street 1, Tj. Mas, North Semarang, Semarang City, Central Java, 50211. The place is located 5 km from the city center, and also near the Old City (or Kota Lama) which is considered as a famous historical tourist spot around the area.

The place was originally a market for turi flower. The flower is edible and served as a component of pecel Surabaya, a mixed vegetable dish with peanut sauce. Later on, the market develops and hosts various sellers besides turi flower. One of its unique characteristics is the custom of playing an old song “Surabaya Oh Surabaya” whenever the train approaches.

Tugu Pahlawan (Heroes Monument)

Tugu Pahlawan will be forever remembered as the icon for the city which is called Kota Pahlawan, or the City of Heroes. The 41.15 meters monument stands tall at the heart of Surabaya, in Pahlawan Street, Alun-alun Contong, Bubutan. At the base of the monument, a museum was built. It is a war museum which displays historical diorama collections of Indonesia's battle for independence as well as the documentation of the monument's construction process.

House of Sampoerna

House of Sampoerna is the most popular museum in the City of Hero to this day. The museum is located at Taman Sampoerna Street No. 6, Krembangan Utara, Pabean Cantian. It was constructed in a classic Dutch two-stories building. Its main appeal is the history of Sampoerna Dynasty with their successful cigarette business. Here, you can witness directly the traditional process of making cigarettes. As additional facilities, this unique museum also provides art gallery, souvenir shop, and a cafe with a classic atmosphere.

Suramadu Bridge

The bridge connecting Surabaya and Madura is the longest ocean bridge in Indonesia. People often called it the “Golden Gate of Indonesia”. It looks very exquisite against the background of Madura Strait. The beauty enhances when the night approaches, as the lights start to appear around it.
